Program LOCIS był dla mnie szczególną okazją do eksploracji piękna. Kontakt z irlandzką naturą wywołuje silne emocje. Początkowo zakładałam realizację tylko jednego projektu, Postnecropolis, związanego z polska i irlandzką tradycją funeralną oraz fascynacją torfem. Jednak powalona kontaktem z tutejszymi stadami owiec, zrealizowałam jeszcze dwa projekty, przy okazji. Preserving of Ireland to zestaw małych nagrobków dla najbardziej reprezentatywnych produktów lokalnych. Drugi z nich: Recording of emotions powstał z wełny zebranej podczas wędrówki w irlandzkich górach.
W jednym z torfowych nagrobków zakonserwowałam serce owcy, metaforyczne serce Irlandii. Owce ocierają się o drzewa, skały, druty, zostawiając małe próbki wełny. Zawiera ona szczątki roślin, przejmuje kolor otoczenia. Zebrałam pokaźną ilość tej brudnej wełny i przetworzyłam ją w rodzaj przędzy, zapisu podróży.

The LOCIS program was a special occasion for me to explore beauty. Contact with nature evokes very strong emotions. At first I had only one project, Postnecropolis, which relates to polish and irish funeral tradition and a fascination with peat. I was particularly struck by the herds of sheep here and as the residency progressed two further projects emerged: Preservation of Ireland, a set of small peat graves for food that is significant to Ireland, and Recording of emotions, which I made after walking in the hills here.

In one small peat grave I preserved a sheep heart, a metaphorical heart of Ireland. As the sheep move against trees, rocks, wire fences, they leave small pieces of wool. This wool is dirty, containing plants debris and taking the colour of landscape around. During my walks in the hills I collected this wool and made kind of yarn wchich became a recording of my walks.

Natura stanowi dla mnie główne źródło inspiracji, dlatego Irlandia bardzo silnie na mnie wpłynęła. Chyba zresztą nie sposób zrealizować pracy o tym obszarze z pominięciem natury, która, mniej lub bardziej dosłownie, determinuje wszystkie aspekty życia. 

Najpiękniejsze rzeczy zdarzają się na granicach. W każdym miejscu, w które trafiam, staram się znaleźć jego serce, najbardziej znaczący element. Stąd jestem zafascynowania irlandzką tradycją funeralną. Śmierć jest niezwykłym momentem powrotu człowieka do ziemi, zbliżenia natury 

i kultury. Dlatego gdziekolwiek jestem odwiedzam cmentarze, szukam informacji o obrzędach.

Podczas LOCIS wiodącą rolę w moich działaniach odgrywa torf, jako naturalny skarb Irlandii, wpisany w tradycję. Ma on wiele funkcji, używany jako opał, nawóz, lek, kosmetyk a nade wszystko cudowny konserwant. Ta ostatnia właściwość jest dla mnie kluczowa i wiąże się z tutejszą tradycją funeralną.

Torfowisko to magiczne miejsce, które może być traktowane jak naturalny cmentarz. Materia ubumarłych roślin służy zachowaniu życia. Ludzkie szczątki znalezione tam wyglądają jakby były niedawno pochowane, choć często maja kilkaset lat. Torf jest piękny w swej prostocie, silny               i pierwotny.

Mój projekt łączy polska i irlandzką tradycję funeralną z ideą posthumanizmu, w myśl której, wszystkie żywe istoty są tak samo ważne. Kulturowe zwyczaje przeniosłam do świata natury. Zdjęcia na porcelanie sa tradycyjnym elementem polskich nagrobków. Wykonałam je roślinom z torfowisk     i umieściłam na prostych nagrobkach z torfowych brykietów. To próba zilustrowania naturalnego porządku.

Nature is the main source of my inspiration, so the influence of Ireland has been very intensive for me. Perhaps it isn't possible to make work about this region without considering nature; it determines all aspects of life, more or less directly.

The most beautiful things happen on borderlands. In all places that I visit, I try to find the most significant elements that I consider to be the core of being. Because of this I am particularly fascinated with funeral traditions. Death is a special moment of each human's return to the earth, where culture  and nature converge. Everywhere I travel, I visit a cemetery, searching for information about rites.

In the context of LOCIS residency peat play the principal role in my work. Peat is a natural treasure of Ireland, inscribed in tradition, with multiple uses, as a fuel, fertilizer, medicinal, cosmetic and amazing preservative. Its property as a preservative is for me the most important, as it concerns my interest in funeral rituals.

The peat bog is a special and extraordinary place witch can be understood as a natural cemetery. The dead plant matter that the bog is made up of also preserves life. Human remains found in peat bogs that are centuries old can look as if they were placed there only a few years previously. Peat is beautiful in its simplicity, strong and primary.

My project combines polish and irish funeral traditions with ideas of posthumanism, which treats all beings equal. Cultural rites transferred to nature's world. Photographs on porcelain are typical for polish graves. I have made these with pictures of plants and placed them in simple tombs made of peat. For me this is special description of the natural order.
